You obviously rolled a 1 when posting this.
My natural 20 to lockdown has succeeded, however.

So, how to properly install MotB?

Risponde RMG :
You should be able to install right now. However, realize there are patches available since MoTB was released, so you will still need to patch.

Using deities.2da in haks
http://nwn2forums.bioware.com/forums/viewp...=115&highlight=
Risponde R.M.G :
There seems to be some confusion when using deities.2da with a hak file.
The deities.2da determines what deities can be selected by each class and/or alignment, among other things.
In the columns that deal with deity selection/availability, you can have one of three different values: 0, 1 or 2.
A value of 0 means the deity cannot be selected by a player.
A 1 means the deity allows followers of the type specified by the column.
A 2 means the deity allows clergy/paladins, etc. that match the specified column.
Based on our tests, the deities.2da file can be read from a hak in-game. It is the confusion of the above values that made it seem as if the file could not be read from a hak.

http://nwn2forums.bioware.com/forums/viewp...=118&highlight=
Risponde RmcG
Off the top of my head, here are some goals from our next three patches:
Eliminate transition crashes.
Add a checkbox to the dedicated server to disallow the override folder.
Allow Haks to load before character generation.
Integrate the DM's Player List with the Chooser.
Implement Multi-Server/Portal Support.
Allow DMs to interact with player inventory
Integrated Content/PWC Autodownloader
Implement stealth animations for player races
Implement numerous spell fixes
It's important to recognize that these are goals and not set in stone - nor is it an exhaustive list of our goals. Technical issues, contract issues and higher priority bugs can change this.

Is PW Dead?
http://nwn2forums.bioware.com/forums/viewp...=118&highlight=
Risponde RmcG

The difference between those packages and NWN1/2 is that those packages are designed for game developers to create a game or MMO. You start from scratch and the majority of them require much more programming knowledge than NWN1/2.
You have to create, program and script all of the models, animations, rules... everything. That is great for someone that is dedicated to developing a game or MMO but you need to be even more realistic about your expectations.
One of the biggest criticisms NWN2 receives is that it's not as easy to do custom content or build as quickly and easily as it was with NWN1. People complain that it takes an advanced degree to work with NWN2 (I disagree stongly with this sentiment). NWN2 is the step between NWN1 and these other packages. If you think it is difficult to use the toolset or create custom content with NWN2, then those packages are probably way out of your league.
I have worked with most of them and, while I enjoy working with them for the most part, I know how much more time consuming and difficult it would be to find the right talent to create a PW or MMO with them. We are talking teams of people.
NWN2, on the other hand, provides you with the rules and game mechanics already. It provides you with models and animations. It provides you with visual effects and spell/ability scripts. NWN2 provides you with the interface and much, much more.
The other tools, you must create all of that.
Those packages are great for what they are intended for. Just know what you are getting into.

A lot of people make a big deal about the overrides. The easiest way to work around it is to rename the Neverwinter Nights 2 folder in your My Documents directory.
As for PWs being dead or not: if you keep saying they are, they will be. You chase people away, while things are improving. Don't shoot yourselves in the foot.

Risponde RmcG
I have been watching this thread and a couple others like it. Statistics are great, but only when you look at them in context.
Let's take today for example:
Since NWN2 came out I have been tracking the server populations through Gamespy. If you use the public page you are able to see a snapshot in time - the number of players and server at that very moment.
So, today I checked it out at my normal time - about 1:30 PM Pacific time. It says there are ~850 players online playing NWN2. That doesn't sound like much, does it?
Now, if I go back and check last February 18, I can see that at the same time of day there were about 525 players online.
This means the number of players (for this day) have grown. If you look through the history, you will see that is the trend.
Over the course of the year, NWN2 has grown by about 60%. So, contrary to what many would have you believe, NWN2 MP has been growing in population, not shrinking

MoW Release Target 16th to 23rd March!!!

Risponde F.U
I was considering whether to respond to this thread or not, but in the end I thought that it was worthwhile. However, I do not want this to become a he-said, she-said issue either. So, I am going to succinctly say that any delayed release of MoW is not due to any action or in-action of Obsidian.
Personally, I find it unfortunate that these forums needed to be used to point blame at any party, since my belief is that we are all in this together to try to make NWN2 and the NWN2 community everthing that it can be.

http://nwn2forums.bioware.com/forums/viewp...=118&highlight=

CITAZIONE
Thanks much for the module list.
It's still seriously disturbing that NWN2 is going through the same multi-year growing pains that NWN1 had already sorted out. Isn't the point of v2 to improve on the original, rather than redoing its mistakes? Argh...
Hopefully the NWN2 community will survive long enough to see the breadth of mods that NWN1 has

.
Risponde RmcG
You have different developers starting with an older version of the engine. I think seeing some of the older bugs is natural in that case. At the same time, some bugs that still exist in NWN1 are have been, or are being, taken care of in NWN2.
I think it all depends on your point of view.

Help me decide whether to buy NWN1 or 2
http://nwn2forums.bioware.com/forums/viewp...=109&highlight=
Risponde RmcG
I think you will find fans of both products and you will end up having a difficult decision. personally, I would buy both. They are both not that expensive, contrary to what a prior poster said.
With NWN1, you have five years of player-made content and a great game for entering into the modding scene. The community is still going pretty strong and probably will be around for a little while yet.
With NWN2, you have a game that many say is closer to a Baulder's Gate style of game than NWN1 was. The modding capabilities are more advanced, but more difficult as well and, like Oblivion and other "NextGen" titles, requires more knowledge and time to mod for it - but the results are fantastic. The community is growing and strong.
You will undoubtedly hear from "fanbois" on each side of this argument, so I wish you luck. I, too, am biased, of course

http://nwn2forums.bioware.com/forums/viewp...=122&highlight=
Feargus is correct: MoW’s delay is not from any action or in-action on Obsidian’s part. There are technical distribution issues that need to be worked on by Obsidian for MoW to be released in an upcoming patch, but the delay on the game’s release is not from Obsidian. Sorry for the confusion by any posters from the Ossian team - I believe there was a misunderstanding on what is happening exactly. We are all committed to releasing MoW as soon as possible.

I don't think, for the most part, the people that say they are not having problems are rebutting the other side, merely saying that they are not having issues.
But it does seem that quite often when someone says their game runs fine, others jump in and basically call that person a liar.
As far as I am concerned, yes, there are problems and we are aware of many of them. Yes, there is work being done on them.

Just going through this thread it seems many of the requests are very general in nature.
When you say you want the "'HoU' system," you need to be a bit more specific. What do you mean by the "HoU system?"
When you say you want a chat system "as good as NWN1," you need to explain that better... the term "as good" is subjective.
If we ever do decide to do an expansion or anything... or even for development of other games... your descriptive feedback is good. Otherwise it doesn't really help.

Why is it so hard for sequals to live up to the original?
http://nwn2forums.bioware.com/forums/viewp...=109&highlight=

CITAZIONE
Yes NWN had it's few bugs, none that were game breaking that I experienced though. Also Bioware released 3rd party tools and file formats for the community ONLY 3 months after release, which the same cannot be said of Obsidian. NWN Patches contained some fixes that not everyone were experiencing (Read: Rare Cases) and extras many a times.

Risponde RmcG
It's interesting that you make this argument here. I think everyone can look to this post as an example.
People that say the same thing about NWN2 on the NWN2 forums are often labeled as fanboys/fanbois of NWN2 and are often criticized as putting down others' experiences.
I am going to take this moment to ask that the NWN1 fans, that hold NWN2 in contempt, please feel free to stick to your own forums. If you are a NWN1 fan and can remain civil, you are welcome here. If you feel it is your mission in life to make NWN2 fans' forum experience bad, then think twice.
The trend of NWN1 fans coming to the NWN2 forums with the sole purpose of declaring how much they hate NWN2 and will never play it is becoming tiresome. Genuine conversations about shortcomings and suggestions for improvement are always welcome.
But you would not appreciate NWN2 fans going to the NWN1 forums and posting threads and starting arguments, so please do not do the same here. Have the same courtesy for the NWN2 fans that they have shown you.

Why is it so hard for sequals to live up to the original?

My post is not directed at you, specifically, Lord Sullivan. I have found you to be a reasonable person and you try to remain respectful of others. It is directed at those people that live on the NWN1 side of things and feel they have a duty, a drive or whatever, to come here and post their displeasure over and over and over again. Then, after many months of absence, they return to post the same tired posts. Unfortunately, it was that section in your post that sparked my involvement, and that may make it seem as if this is directed at you. It isn't.
this is a general address:
As I said, we welcome discussion. We even welcome complaints and concerns. We also welcome suggestions and pontifications.
But I think the arguing for arguments' sake is getting out of hand.
NWN1 and NWN2 are two different games. They will each appeal to different types of people - but there may be some crossover. We are not here to steal NWN1 players or take away your NWN1 Persistent Worlds. There is no reason why both games cannot coexist and it shouldn't have to be a choice between one or the other.
Realize it or not, for some reason, the choice of NWN1 or NWN2 is deeply personal: much like the choice between Apple and PC. When you rail against someone's Neverwinter-of-choice, many people take that as an insult (you are insulting their taste in games). You can say they shouldn't, but I guarantee if the shoe was on the other foot, many of you would be compelled to defend your NWN staunchly.
